Loving Layers: (From Left) David Gandy, Daniel Craig, David Beckham.

So it’s the time of year again of log fires, countryside walks and chilly pub nights.  After a  mild Autumn, the temperature has dropped drastically so get your winter woolies out and embrace the chill. Whilst we love Summer trends, Dapper Street think Winter fashion can be just as exciting so we’re here to help you look great by layering up your favourites, as well as styling up your new season buys. It’s all about mix’n’matching’, starting with a basic colour palette and selecting key colourful pieces and textures to bring the look together.

1.You can still wear your comfy t ‘shirt in the cooler months. After all knowing our winters- the central heating or fire will be blasting out, so be sure to make sure you’re t-shirt is acceptable- i.e not your shabby stained pj top! Pick a classic logo tee like the Jack & Jones Mano in burgundy, or a basic Selected Homme Pima t-shirt is ideal to keep you warm under shirts as well as acceptable (alone if you get the man sweats after all that food!)

2.In terms of shirts, a flannel check is a great warmer, casual option whether undone or buttoned up. For a smarter option, a throwback retro print looks it’s best around christmas! Check out Merc for a great selection of quality shirts as well as Diesel for the all over print Tapas Shirt.

3.Your chunky layer is your ultimate piece for winter, the thicker and more wintery the better! And there’s so many options, from a basic hoody, to a full on novelty Christmas jumper. Pay attention to the fit of your crew neck and sleeve length. A marl or fleck knit is a great way to add interest, Money, Carhartt and Original Penguin do some great ones aswell as Farah Vintage for a smart Cable knit. An alternative is a 1/4 or full zip knit. Versatile as well as stylish, a zip cardigan or button 1/4 zip will make you look grown up. The same goes for the rollneck, love’em or hate’em, they’re everywhere this season( Duck & Cover is our pick) Although do consider that comfort comes first and the roll neck can be a hard one to get away.

4.We’ve also got plenty of outerwear layers to top off you’re look. Whether you want a super warm Duffle or Alpha Explorer or a lighter number, you’re not limited like you think to that one jacket you own. For example layer up your favourite denim  with a grey hoodie. Simiarly A Blazer can look great topping off your tee or shirt combo, and even looks stylish underneath a woolen coat like Iconic Pea coat from Selected. Just be careful not to have a longer layer underneath you choice of jacket and consider more fitted, slim trousers with bulkier coats to ensure correct proportions.

5. Finally, don’t forget the Winter essentials, a glove or scarf can really make a difference in a snow ball fight after all! And guys don’t think it means you’re any less of a man for being clever and wearing the snuggly extras. If anything accessories can be the difference between an effortlesssly wrong and effortlessly dapper ensemble!
