With Festival season kicking off this month with Isle of Wight, before you know it we’ll be in full festival swing whether the sun is shining or not. Whilst it’s probably not at the top of your list of priorities, (Will there be beer? Check. Will you see some amazing music? Check. Girls looking effortlessly hot? Check) there’s no excuse to not looking good with Dapper Street‘s awesome style guide. See Festivals today are about the fashion as much as the music whether you like it or not.
Yep they’re the place to flaunt your individuality whether you’re mud splattered in the Download mosh pit, dancing your socks off at Lovebox, or chilling in the field at Glastonbury. This year’s line ups are more diverse than ever- Kendrick Lamar & Mumfords at Reading & Leeds, Kanye & The Who at Glasto? So what you waiting for? Embrace your style, leave your insecurities at home & start feeling your dapper best with our inside guide.
Print Tee or Vest
An obvious one but timeless and easy to pull off. Go for an all-over tropical print or logo for a simple, stylish look. Similarily, a vest top is an easy alternative for hotter days- nothing says summer more! The Hype Parrots & Coconuts (Available in-store) and Selected Homme’s Sea Tank are our picks.
Go for slim fit; nothing too tailored to restrict you from rocking out. Check out the Replay denim shorts or classic comfy sweat shorts from Jack & Jones. Alternatively Chino styles are a great smarter option, check out Scotch & Soda’s beige pair (below centre) or the Original Penguin Conversational print shorts (below, botton right.)
Short sleeved shirt
Ideal to layer on a t-shirt or by itself and so very 2015. Alternatively a long sleeved shirt works great as a warmer layer over a tee worn rolled up or down. For an on-trend look go for a print like Scotch & Soda’s Pineapple Navy shirt (below left) or a white print like Carhartt (below centre.) A block colour- ideally blue goes well with anything for they guys less adventurous
Sweatshirt or Hoodie
Pack a cosy layer for when the temperature drops to ensure nothing keeps you from staying out in the field. Keep it simple and versatile in order to compliment the rest of your gear. the Fred PerryLaurel Track Top gets our vote as well as the Scotch & Soda Felpa Sweater.
Things to consider
As with any outfit accessories can really give it that je na se’qui. Headwear is great for festivals to make you stand out whether a snapback, Panama or Bucket hat (See New Era’s latest collection. Similarily sunnies are a must whether a wayfarer or (a rock’n’roll’ star inspire) aviator. In terms of footwear it’s all about comfort/ try a sturdy boot to toughen up a look (and great to keep out of the puddles) or summer loafer. Lastly, it wouldn’t be a Brit Festival without our glorious unpredicatble weather, be practical fella and pack a Windbreaker Jacket.
So there you have it guys, the only thing left to do? Get the beers in of course.
Whether you’re off to one or just having the lads round to watch the highlights, get into the spirit of things Festival inspired.
