At Dapper Street we like to keep up with the latest trends as well as adding our own twist. But sometimes it’s not easy to emulate the Catwalks, so that’s why we’re here to give you a hand to get you looking & feeling like the sharp gent you are.
Denim has been a staple since…forever, but what happens when we’re told that doubling it is the way forward? At the risk of looking like a farm hand or in fancy dress, it’s crucial to get the look right. Even the big wigs of the industry such as Ralph Lauren and Tom Ford recognise it’s ‘naff’ image. So It might be scary, but fashion IS all about taking risks and feeling good as well as looking great. So it’s time to be brave & give it a go man!
1. The easiest way is to contrast shades. You’re less likely to notice the similarilty of the fabric if the colourways are far from eachother. So simply a darker shade with a light wash jean or vice versa. N.b Darker on the bottom half is always more flattering.
2. Break it up. Use a basic layer like a white tee to separate the denim.
4. An interesting pop of colour can bring the look right up to date & look stylish compared to a garish primary colour. Alternatively a stripe or floral pattern can really make the look.
Lastly don’t think that double denim doesn’t make you any less masculine. After all Levi Strauss popularised jeans as the ultimate, durable workwear. Not forgetting the rebellious teens of the 50’s pushing boundaries both politically & creatively.
And finally, how not to wear it…(not to put you off but to show you exactly how it’s not done! Seriously guys you can’t look this bad!

I’m not sure what’s worse… the 80’s haircut, the Simon-Cowel level highwaisted?
